ERIN GO BRAGH

I might not have been born where the clovers are abundant and the wee fold play tricks on the farmers but the green heritage runs strongly through these veins of mine and I am proud to come from the likes of Tullamore.

My fathers’ side of the family are potato planting, whiskey distilling Irish folk from the south of the emerald isle and dear old shamus is born and bred. We might not celebrate things as we should and I certainly can’t speak Gaelic anymore (as a child I apparently could) but of course there is no way we would miss a chance to have a pint of Guinness and a good old party.

So seeing as St Paddy’s day is tomorrow we’re going green… and not with envy my dears! I’m getting baileys and making some green cupcakes, a yummy green cake and of course we’ll have Guinness. I might not be able to go out and pub crawl like I used to but nothing says I can’t turn the day into teaching fish about his heritage and the reason for the holiday – any excuse to bake and drink beer.
