Can you believe it’s already that time of year again? Shops are stringing up wreathes, putting up ostentatious trees and it’s only a matter of time before the Christmas CD’s get dusted off and are filtered through the sound systems.
It’s also that time of year when some of us start biting our nails, patting our pockets and jokingly tell our friends and family that they’ll be getting love and hugs for Christmas. I do hope they all agree that only the kids will be getting gifts this year! The thing is…(sigh) in our home we make this decision every year, the one that only the kids are getting gifts, and yet every year we end up making sure there is something small under the tree for everyone. (* Coral-Leigh seems to forget she is and always will be my child no matter how old she gets. ~ Tania) Over the years I’ve gotten clever though and I start my making and shopping in January already when all the special offers were put out (yes you read right) and every month I tried to get one gift so that come Christmas time I’m not running around like a headless chicken, standing in mile long queues with a toddler in tow and I’m not emptying out the sofa for spare change.
But some people aren’t that forward thinking and this year I have a few more people to celebrate with than last, so I decided that seeing as I will be going on “Christmas leave” in December (which means that when my minion’s school closes, he and I will be home. Alone. Together.) I have decided that we are going to get crafty, because that’s why we have kids right? So we can save money and use their art as gifts! Wait, that’s not why we have kids? Oh… my bad
Mom is a Pinterest junkie at the moment and has come up with a stunning Pinterest Christmas Board FULL of festive crafts that we’re going to be trying out. From Christmas biscuits to table crackers made from toilet rolls. We are going to let our creativity take over and have fun at the same time. It’s going to be a budget friendly season this year that will double up as a crafty/toddler entertaining one!
And for those of you who don’t have a crafty bone in your body, still dread the malls in the holiday season, or have a horrid phobia of Christmas carols, why not shop online? That way you can do it in the comfort of your own home while wearing pyjamas! Plus I find that you don’t buy as much unnecessary things when you shop online which means you’ll save a little extra money. But if you are going this route, make sure to do your On-Line Christmas Shopping now already so that you are sure the gifts will arrive in time.
With much love ~ Coral-Leigh & Tania ♥♥
