#choosebeautiful

Protect your self-confidence, by remembering that to be alive is an act of courage. Don’t allow to be unnecessarily influenced by other people thinking. Most of the times we deny our own beauty because others can’t or won’t recognize it. Then, instead of accepting ourselves as we are, we try to imitate what we see around us. We try to be what other people think of as pretty. In this process, little by little, our soul fades, our will weakens, and all the potential and energy we had, to make it to our distinct destinies withers away.

Did you know that a staggering 96% of women do not choose the word ‘beautiful’ to describe how they look? How sad is that? But in saying that i am one of those woman, I wouldn’t choose the word beautiful to describe myself and when someone else does I snort with laughter as if they’re making a joke. And that’s sad.

Although the majority of women don’t describe themselves as beautiful, 80% agree that every woman has something about her that is beautiful. I have some of the most beautiful friends out there, they aren’t models or a perfect size 6 but they are stunning and I often envy them, though reading that statistic I’m guessing they feel just like I do about being called beautiful and seeing themselves as such.

Dove made a film and I think you should give it a watch, watch the reaction of the women, watch their choices. What stood out to me was that when they were alone they tended to choose average but when with friends they’d drag each other through the beautiful door. We need to make that choice for ourselves, start seeing ourselves as more than just average.

Dove has long been committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety.  Dove hopes to inspire women to develop a positive relationship with beauty, because when women recognize the beauty in themselves, they then have a powerful ability to positively impact the next generation.  The brand has set a goal of reaching 15 million young lives with self-esteem programming by the end of 2015 and has reached over 14 million to date.
